PTA Sunday Scoop: Shining & Surviving September, Together

Hi Bushy Park Families,

Your friendly neighborhood PTA president here, hoping you’re enjoying a well-deserved Labor Day weekend full of rest, family time, and maybe one last scoop of summer ice cream. Speaking of ice cream, keep your eyes peeled for a fresh collaboration with the one and only Taharka Bros Ice Cream, an incredible local company and purveyor of my personal favorite flavor (that brown sugar cookie dough, iykyk). 

As we shift into September (no really, how did that happen?!), we’ve got an exciting week ahead at school and with the PTA:

  📌 Labor Day – Monday, Sept. 1

A 3-day weekend already? Don’t forget there’s no trash, no recycling, and no bus pickup Monday. Schools, offices, and pretty much everything but the snack drawer are closed!  

📌 PTA Meeting - Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 6:30 PM (doors open at 6:15)

Join us in the Media Center for our first meeting of the year in person! Come meet other parents, hear what’s on the horizon, and share your ideas. Your voice really matters in shaping what we do. While we are offering a hybrid option, in person attendees will be entered into a door prize raffle from our generous donor The Pottery Stop.

📌 Back to School Picnic & Community Night - Friday, Sept. 5, 6–8 PM

Bring the whole family for food, games, and a chance to connect with friends, staff, and community partners. It’s a new spin on a favorite fall event, and we hope you love it as much as we do!  Bring your own picnic, or grab a treat from our food vendors.  Can't wait to see you there.

📌 PTA Membership Drive + Teacher Raffle- drawing on Sept. 15

If you have friends who haven’t joined the PTA yet, now’s the perfect time for peer pressure, err, I mean... pass on this information!  This year we are giving our community the opportunity to sponsor a teacher membership.  Interested teachers AND STAFF are welcome to enter the raffle for one of these spots.  Thanks to our generous families, we currently have over 20 sponsored slots available!  Don't worry, everyone else who's joined early is also entered into a raffle for fun prizes, too!
