Mark your calendars! On Friday, September 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Bushy Park Elementary is hosting a Back to School Picnic & Community Night — and you’re invited!
This special evening is a chance for families to come together, connect with community resources, and kick off the school year in a fun, relaxed setting. Whether you're brand new to BPES or a returning family, there's something here for everyone.
What to Expect
Indoor and Outdoor Activities: We’ll have a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces open for you to enjoy. Bring a picnic blanket and dine on the lawn, or take a break from the summer heat and eat inside the air-conditioned cafeteria.
Food & Sweet Treats: Don’t feel like packing dinner? No problem — the Grubbing Hard food truck will be serving up delicious meals right outside the school. And for dessert, stop by Sweet Nubbins Boutique Bakery for a selection of mouth-watering sweet treats.
Meet Local Organizations: We’re thrilled to welcome a variety of local community groups and services, including:
Howard County Parks & Recreation
HoCo Master Gardeners
Local Scout Troops
4-H
Autism Society
Occupational Therapists
...and more!
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the programs, clubs, and support services available to families in our area.
Craft Station: There will also be a dedicated craft station for kids to get creative and take home a handmade keepsake.
Why You Should Come
Events like this help build the kind of strong, connected school community that makes Bushy Park Elementary such a special place. It's a chance to meet other families, learn about local resources, and simply enjoy a night of food, fun, and friendship.
We hope to see you there — bring your family, bring a friend, and help us celebrate the start of a great school year!
