Hi Bushy Park Families,
Your friendly neighborhood PTA president here, sliding into your inbox to say CALM DOWN 2026! If the month of January (read: year) has taught us anything, it’s flexibility. Between weather, countywide cancellations, and shifting schedules, we know it’s felt like chaos for everyone. To the parents who've had to pivot while school was in, out, up, down or delayed, you are seen and we know it's been a time. To the teachers who wrangled our feral, ehrm cherubs, when they went back and still managed to crack a smile for conferences, we appreciate you more than we could ever say.
We’re crossing our fingers for a full week of school ahead and a bit more routine returning next week. (Just in time for a 4 day weekend).
Sweetheart Dance Update
Due to the countywide activity cancellations, we’ve had to reschedule the Sweetheart Dance. We do have a new date in mind, but it still needs final approval. We’re hopeful to have everything confirmedMonday and will share the new date and details as soon as possible.
Thank you all so much for your patience, we promise it will be worth the wait! We also would like to extend an enormous bear sized thank you toMelissa N. not only for the amount of work she put into planning this dance, but for being so flexible and changing gears on a moment's notice.
100th Day of School – Volunteers Needed! Tuesday Feb 10
I know Groundhog Day was last week, but here we go again: The 100th Day of School is coming up (for real this time) next week, and we’re planning a fun surprise for students! We’re looking for parent volunteers to help hide pictures around the school for kids to find. The grade with the most pictures will win music at lunch, which is always a hit! 10 minutes of your time can make a huge impact on students, our aim is to make sure everyone's as excited to be there as we are.
PTA Meeting – Tuesday Night Feb 10
Stick around after the picture hiding andketchupwith the PTA meeting, rescheduled from last week. We’d love to see you there as we connect, share updates, and look ahead to what’s coming this spring (we'll even let yougrill us). The doorprize is bun-believable, thanks to our friends at White Oak Tavern, you can win a voucher for one free cheeseburger a month for a whole year! AbsolutelyGRILL-iant. This one's abigdill. The meeting will be hybrid as usual for those who are unable to attend in person.
Sound Bowl – Thursday Night Feb 12
Feeling the stress of all the things? You’re not alone (seriously, it's all been a lot lately). Join us for the Sound Bowl on Thursday night, hosted by BPES' own Lauren Reagle. It's a chance to pause, breathe, and reset. Registration is open, and we highly recommend it if you’re craving a little calm. This event is for parents only.
Friday Feb 13 -- Treats at lunch, and the play!
Alice in Wonderland Jr.: Many of our kids have been hard at work afterschool and will be presenting their rendition of Alice in Wonderland on Friday. Entry is free and the performance will be in the cafeteria.
The PTA has partnered with the PBIS team to provide skinny pop popcorn to all students for the school-wide reward of movie and lunch. Please see ingredients on the company’s website and reach out to your child’s teacher or the office if you would prefer to opt out or provide something different for your child for any reason.
Thank you for rolling with the punches, supporting one another, and showing up for our school community—even when things feel messy. Together, we really do shine brighter.
