Happy Sunday Bushy Park Families!

First, a HUGE thank you to our amazing Movie Night crew for pulling off such a spectacular event! Kim F., Kristin S., Rachel S., and Elizabeth B. did an absolutely amazing job putting this event together, with an assist from BPES friend and Neighbor Sheldon for the expert sound engineering. In true BPES PTA fashion, the weather kept us on the edge of our seats and forced a last-minute pivot, literally- we turned to the right and everything worked out great! Thank you to everyone who came out, rolled with the changes, and spent the evening enjoying some good old-fashioned community time together. Another shoutout to Ray G., our unofficial Slice Wrangler and Pizza Shepherd, who kept us all in pies all night long. Not all heroes wear capes. Some just keep showing up with more pizza.

A quick bit of housekeeping: we are aware of the Bear Tracks typo, and YES, Fall Fest is THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15. We checked.  Twice.  And there's no school on October 16, even if the post Fall Fest vibes make you want to drop the kids off anyway.  We still have space for anyone who wants to host a trunk, so there’s plenty of time to pick a theme and join the fun. Bring on your silly, sweet, slightly spooky, or unhinged themes. For those of you wondering, the Taylor Swift theme is up for grabs this year, my child overlords have informed me I am not to repeat myself again.

There are also only a few days left to feed those Candy Monsters! It’s still anybody’s game, and the winning grades get music at lunch. Upstairs? Downstairs? Who will emerge victorious? Time to empty those last bags of candy and trinkets into your team’s monster.  All donations go directly towards Fall Fest Fun.

Speaking of friendly competition, Bushy Bear Dash registration is NOW OPEN! Our friends at Ledo’s have committed to pizza parties again this year for the classes with the highest registration and fundraising totals. We also have a ton of awesome raffle prizes from our community sponsors, so get registered, start fundraising, and commence the wholesome PTA-approved peer pressure.

Don't forget to keep your eyes on our website and socials, we have added dates for fan favorite ART NIGHT again with Mr. Van Meter and Mr. Hopkins. And if all of this feels like a lot to keep track of (relatable), don't forget to treat yourself to some ice-cream when our Taharka Sale opens this week.

TL;DR because September has been a lot and sometimes the Sunday Scoop isn't your cup of tea:

  • Thursday October 1- Last Day to Feed the Candy Monsters

    • Winners will be revealed during Friday morning's announcement, no pressure Mrs. Davis.

  • Thursday October 1- Taharka Bros Sale opens

    • All orders this year will come to BPES, pickup available on 10/13-15

  • Monday October 5- Spirit Night at Walkers Tap and Table

  • Wednesday October 7- PTA meeting 6:30 pm

    • Located in the media center, meeting will be hybrid as usual

    • Special guest Lindsay Unger from PTAHC's Technology Committee

  • Thursday October 15- Fall Fest Trunk or Treat

    • Want to host a trunk?  Volunteer here.

    • Special time from 5-5:30 for PreK, RECC, ALS, or anyone who needs a slower start to a fun event.

    • Open to all from 5:30-7:30, join us for food trucks, fun, games, and of course trunk or treating.

  • Saturday November 14, now 2-4 pm-  Bushy Bear Dash

    • Registration is now open

Well, September is almost behind us and somehow October is already standing at the door holding a Candy Monster, a Fall Fest trunk, a race bib, and approximately 47 things we forgot to put on the calendar. But today it’s raining and the couch is right there. This feels suspiciously like the universe handing us a permission slip to ignore the laundry, put on a movie, and take a Sunday afternoon nap.  Who are we to argue?

We have plenty of time to return to our regularly scheduled chaos tomorrow.  Have a great week Bushy Park Families!

See you all real soon!
