Happy Mother's Day Sunday Bushy Park Families!

What a week it's been!  A huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to Natalie K., Nicole O, Stephanie S., Kerry H., Katie T.,  and all the Hospitality Volunteers for an absolutely impeccable Teacher Appreciation Week.  The week was wonderful, well organized, and kept all our teachers and staff with smiles shining bright all week.  To any parent, friend, or family that stopped by, sent well wishes, donated items, organized, baked, dropped off, waved or anything else, THANK YOU for spreading joy to our teachers and staff in the middle of Maycember Mayhem season.  To our teachers and staff, words genuinely will never express the depth of our gratitude for all the ways, small and large, that you show up each and every day for all of our kids.  An additional shoutout to Ms. Melissa and Ms. Traci in the health room as this was also National Nurses Week, because of course it was.  The weeks may overlap but you all deserve your own shoutouts, we would be lost without all of you!

As much as we love our teachers, we cannot overlook today being Mother's Day.  Wishing each and every one of our BPES Moms, Grand-moms, Step-Moms, Aunts, Gigis, Nanas, Mom-Moms, Mimas, and anyone else who celebrates today a very Happy Mother’s Day! We here at the PTA know that sometimes days like today can bring a whole host of feelings for a whole host of reasons- happy, sad, and everything in between.  Know that we are your community and we are here for you whether today looks exactly how you always pictured or whether it's a work in progress.  I hope your garden is blooming, your coffee is hot, and the chocolate is plentiful. I hope you get a moment of peace and a boat load of sticky hugs, some home made cards and a meal you neither planned nor prepared.  I hope you know we all know you're doing your best and you're doing great!  Give yourself a hug from all of us at the PTA.

Last, but certainly not least, a huge thank you to Erin. K and Neesha M. for planning and executing an absolutely spectacular first annual yard sale!  I personally got the cutest little chicken art (iykyk), my kids rehomed quite a few of your items, and I especially loved seeing all the Bushy Park Student Entrepreneurs on hand!  Bushy Blooms had a near sell out as well, only a few containers of herbs and lettuce left.  This was a huge amount of work and you both stepped in and stepped up, we appreciate everything you do!

Now buckle in Bushy Park, Maycember is far from over and the calendar is FULL.  This is also the part for all you TL/DR folx:

  • May 11- Simulated Congressional Hearings for the 5th grade.

  • May 11join our kids who have been working so hard since December on the K-Pop showcase!  Doors open at 6:30, performance is in the cafeteria.

  • May 19- FIELD DAY!  If you signed up, please remember that you must stay at your assigned station.  This year we are asking parents to wear a lanyard identifying themselves as a volunteer.  Remember that there are no pets, younger siblings, or spectators at field day, this is to keep our kids safe.  If you want to take your child home with you, remember you will have to sign them out in the front office.

  • May 26- Spirit Day at Barrington's, join us to sit, sip, and savor all that our friends at Barrington's have to offer.  Don't forget to mention Bushy Park PTA, and a portion of the proceeds will come back to help us put on more fun events!

  • June 3- Ice Cream Social and final PTA meeting of the year- we will be approving our summer budget so get your sugar fix and help us set up our summer for success.

  • June 9- 5th grade party at Red Barn Ranch.  Registration is now open, details went home this week but can also be found on our website.

  • June 11- End of Year Carnival from 6-8 at BPES.  Planning is well underway but we are always looking for more hands to make the work light.  We will have food trucks and fun new games and activities, as well as some old favorites.  There will be designated inflatables for our youngest bear cubs, no matter how big they think they are, and staff onsite to help keep the traffic flowing safely.

Alright, that's enough for now.  I hear a nap calling my name, or maybe it's a kid yelling for a snack.  Who can be sure, honestly?  See you all real soon!
