🪻 Sunday Scoop, March 8 edition- Springing Forward 1 hour closer to Spring Break

Hello Bushy Park Families! 

Hoping this finds you with coffee in hand and at least half your clocks set to the correct time. Spring Forward brings so many mixed feelings every year- the joy of knowing spring (and gardening) is around the corner, the sleepiness of losing that hour, and the irony that it falls on International Women's Day.  But hey, at least we finally had a full week of school!  The sun is shining, snow is (hopefully) in the rearview, and spring break is- checks watch- 19 days away!

This week brought more than just a much needed return to normalcy.  We had our March PTA meeting, minutes and slides from our guest speaker will be available on our website this week.  Next month will have more guest speakers and the fan favorite update on Field Day!  BPES launched their readathon fundraiser, and Field Day Shirt ordering went live.  We also caught a touch of spring fever ahead of Bushy Blooms and dropped some flowers off to brighten some of our staff's Friday.

Before we get into what's next for everyone, I want to send out a reminder that none of what we do happens without all of you.  We are so grateful that all of you have been here for every Sunday Scoop so far this year, and can't wait to finish out the year strong.  It often feels like the time between spring break and end of year is like the Holiday Season in shorts.  I'm buying gifts for people, expressing my gratitude, and feeling like I'm wearing roller skates while juggling chickens.  Before we come to the end of the year, we are looking for a few more helping hands to join the election committee, hospitality (specifically for planning Teacher Appreciation Week), and End of Year Party.  Many hands make light work, and these things are more fun with our people around us.  Reply to this email or reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator with interest.  We'll happily take grudging willingness in place of interest, so let us know if you have that, too.

Here's what's coming up:

• Beary Creative: March 12. Join us for a llamazing evening (no seriously, llamas!) art event for our older kids, grades 3-5.  Space is limited to 50 students and their grownups so signup today!  

• Bushy Blooms returns again this year, this time with updated all-in-one ordering.  We are also hosting a yard sale during pickup, so please register for a spot if you want to clean out your closets and tot-swap with your neighbors.

• NEW after school activities offered: Volleyball, open to K-5 with separate session for Middle School if you have older siblings who may be interested.  Register here for sessions Friday after school from 4/17-5/22

• Field Day Shirts- order forms have been sent home through BPES.  If your family has concerns about their ability to purchase a shirt, please reach out through our Buddy Cares Form.  The BPES PTA is here to help.
