Sunday Scoop, February 22 edition - From Bejeweled to Bedtime; in Our Carnival Era

Hi Bushy Park Families, 

After a short week of school, we’re heading into the weekend still a little in our feelings.  Our Sweetheart Dance & Carnival was truly one for the books. 

Before I can declare Long live all the magic we made, I need to shout a HUGE thank you to Melissa N. for hosting such a magical evening. From the music and games to the laughter echoing through the halls, it really was one of those rare… we were there celebrations. Events like this don’t just happen; they take vision, organization, and so much heart. We are incredibly grateful for not only the thoughtful planning of this wonderful event where we got to see our student dance like nobody was watching, but also for the ACTUAL grace under fire when we had to pivot to a new date on a moment's notice.

To the fifth grade families who were able to attend their final SweetHeart Dance at BPES:  We were enchanted to dance with you.  Know if you felt a little lump in your throat watching them laugh with friends, dance with parents, and soak it all in, you weren’t alone. This is their long live all the magic we mademoment.  They’ve grown up under these cafeteria lights. They’ve learned to read, to lead, to be kind, to shine. And now they’re standing on the edge of something new with middle school on the horizon, they're ready to step into the daylight and let it go. Transitions can be bittersweet, but Swifties know wehold on to the memories. And while they may be closing one Sweetheart era, we know something new and exciting is ahead. After all, today is never too late to be brand new.

Now as we head into a full week ahead (pleeeeeease let it stay full and uninterrupted!) where the glitter has settled, our community is still shining. After all, our kids know that "you belong with me” isn’t just a lyric, it’s the spirit of belonging we work to build every day.

Here’s what’s coming up:

✨  Science Fair: February 27 (daytime, during school). Register your student's project or volunteer to help the event run smoothly

✨ STEM Night: February 27 (evening event).  Come see us at our annual STEM night event featuring robots, a presentation by the Science Guys, and so much fun!  Each student will get the chance to transform into a Scientist as they navigate hands on stations, games, crafting, and so much more!  We will also be announcing the winners from the days science fair!

✨ Spirit Night: Stratosphere Social, March 3. Enjoy some time out with kids, friends or alone- we aren't here to judge.  Drop your receipts into boxes labeled for BPES PTA.

✨ PTA Meeting: March 4  

✨  Beary Creative: March 12. Join us for a llamazing evening art event for our older kids, grades 3-5.  Space is limited to 50 students and their grownups so signup today!

Thank you for showing up, pitching in, and making this school community feel like something special. We may be out of our Sweetheart era for now but the connection and joy carry on.

 Now I’m wondering if we’re out of the woods yet or if we are going to have another boatload of snow days, because the weather so far is giving real you need to calm down vibes.  Whether it happens or not, you can’t stop us from dreaming of a full week of school.
