Happy Sunday Bushy Park Families!

Well, that was a heck of a Back-to-School Picnic!  A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and willingly embraced the heat, humidity, and general feeling of being lightly steamed in order to kick off another school year together.

Special shoutouts to our Kid Entrepreneurs who showed up for our very first Bear Cub Commissary! We loved seeing our students share their creativity, hard work, and entrepreneurial spirit with the community, and we loved how you inspired others or cheered each other on.  Thank you as well to all of the community organizations who joined us, and to every BPES family who braved the weather, grabbed some food, said hello to old friends, met some new ones, and helped make the evening such a fun celebration of our school community.

In other news, we remain hard at work on various events to make this year fun for everyone, but our PTA runs, well it runs on chaos and coffee if I'm totally honest, but also because of volunteers like you.  Not a volunteer yet?  We are super fun, reach out to us hereKnow someone who hasn't joined yetRelatives who want to get the scoop?  Businesses who want to partner with or sponsor us?  We've got a little something for everyone, sharing is caring.

As we look to the future, remember that this our first 3-day weekend of the year, because apparently after taking every bit of 2 weeks getting everyone back into the routine of school and bedtime, the calendar decided we needed to shake things up.

Read on for what's coming up next, aka the TL/DR section:

  • Monday September 7 - No School, our first 3 day weekend!

  • Tuesday September 8 - Back to School Night for grades 1-3

    • 6 pm at Bushy Park, reminder that this event is for the adults

  • Thursday September 10 - Back to School Night for Grades 4 and 5

    • AAP (formerly GT) at 5:30 pm

    • Grades 4-5 at 6 pm

  • Wednesday September 16 - Spirit Day at Chipotle, Sykesville Location

  • Thursday September 17 PREK and RECC popsicles on the playground

Enjoy the long weekend, Bears! May your Monday be low on sibling arguments, high on snacks, and involve absolutely no one asking, “What are we doing today?” before you've finished your coffee.  May the odds be ever in your favor!
