Happy Sunday Bushy Park Families!
Whew… what a week, friends. And what a night.
A huge and heartfelt shoutout for the return of Belonging Together Night and to our incredible co-chairs Neela W. and Leena M. who brought it to life so beautifully. The heart and intention behind this event were evident in every single touch. You could feel it the moment you walked in. To the families who participated by hosting tables, sharing traditions, dressing up, and bringing food (seriously… the food ) thank you! I’ll just go ahead and say it: I’ll be over for dinner at 6, and I promise to do the dishes.
To the community members who joined us and represented organizations that matter so deeply to our families—thank you for helping us build connections that go beyond our school walls. To the teachers, staff, and administrators that stayed after hours or came back with their extended families, thank you for modeling what true dedication and community look like.
This night was a beautiful reminder that our community isn’t just a group of people, it's a vibrant tapestry of stories, cultures, and experiences. And when we come together like this? That’s when we shine the brightest.
Another big thank you to Erin K and the amazing volunteers who pulled off the fastest turnaround in PTA history to get the Book Fair up and running in time for Friday's event. Truly impressive. If you missed it (or just need “one more book”… we see you and also, same), the Book Fair will be open Monday–Friday from 4–8 PM next week. We still have a few volunteer spots open, perfect if you want a low-key way to help out and sneak a peek at all the books. Teachers- don't forget your wishlists.
Since we're on a roll, we also want to shout out to our fifth graders who have been deep in prep mode for Battle of the Books and finally crossed the finish line on Friday! That’s no small commitment, and we hope you had an absolute blast putting all that reading to the test. Even though your time at Bushy Park is (rapidly, so rapidly, time please slow down) coming to a close, we here at the PTA will always be cheering you on every step of the way!
Here’s What’s Coming Up Next… stay tuned, because we’re not slowing down anytime soon! No seriously, this time of year is in fast-forward.
April 28- spring concert at BPES! Reach out to Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Cherry with any questions.
May 6- PTA elections at our penultimate meeting of the year. Hybrid as usual, but man would we love to see you there! I promise we're fun. Special Guest is Delaney Putt, who is a Towson University Intern that has been working with Mrs. Cohn and our students all year long.
May 4-8 is Teacher Appreciation Week. It's the hospitality committee's version of the super bowl and they've been working hard to show the love to our Teachers and Staff for all they do for our children. Want to help?
Share affirmations and words of gratitude for our staff
Donate items (or your time!) for the breakfast bar
Contribute from our Wishlist
Send in treats for the dessert bar
May 9- Spring yard sale, and Bushy Blooms Pickup. Come out and shop, visit, or make your garden beautiful.
June 3- Ice Cream Social and final PTA meeting of the year.
June 9- 5th grade party at Red Barn Ranch. Registration and details coming soon! Don't forget to order your graduation yard sign to support the 5th grade committee's efforts!
June 11- End of Year Carnival from 6-8 at BPES. Planning is well underway but we are always looking for more hands to make the work light. We will have food trucks and fun new games and activities, as well as some old favorites. There will be a designated inflatable for our youngest bear cubs, no matter how big they think they are, and staff onsite to help keep the traffic flowing safely. Have an idea for something you would like to see or any vendors you think may be interested? Reach out today!
If this week showed us anything, it’s this: when we show up for each other with curiosity, kindness, and maybe a shared plate of something amazing we build something really special. Let's finish out this year strong, together, and shining.
