PTA Sunday Scoop-- A spirit day and a half day on the horizon!

Dear Bushy Park PTA Family,

Welcome to our new members! We’re so glad you’re here, and we hope you enjoy your very first Sunday Scoop.  Think of it like ice cream for your inbox, but instead of sprinkles, it’s packed with reminders, updates, and all the little things that help keep our busy lives together.

 The (Revamped) Bushy Bear Dash is Coming!

Registration is now OPEN!  Join us on Saturday, November 15, from 10am–12pm for the PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Proceeds support programs for our students all year long. The Bushy Bear Dash features both a 3K and 1-mile fun run (choose your course the day of). Adults and kids are all welcome—walk, run, skip, or boogie your way through! Can’t attend? You can still register, get your swag, and support the school.

New this year:

• Flat registration fee for children and adults (includes a t-shirt!)

• Students may still collect donations, just like before.  Classes with the highest overall total and the grade with the highest participation will all earn rewards.

• Local businesses are invited to sponsor the Dash and have their logos featured on the race shirts.  Know anyone interested?

 What's Coming Up?

• Monday September 15, End of Membership Drive:

  Our PTA Membership Drive wraps up on Monday, the 15th! Thank you to everyone who has already joined or renewed. Winners of all raffles will be notified by email after the drive closes.

• Wednesday September 17, 3 hour early dismissal & FIRST SPIRIT DAY: have your child wear the following color based on which bear den their homeroom teacher is in.

  Black Bears (Yellow): Kleinschmidt, Lessley, Hintz, Bruner, Pickett, Stumpfl, Hampshire, Little

  Grizzly Bears (Red): Dura, Spencer, Hogan, Hovis, Perry, Griffin, Yalscoe-Markel

  Panda Bears (Green): Gastley-Selock, Lambros, Cook, De Villiers, Stanton, Cole, Bauer

  Polar Bears (Blue): Martinec, Kirby, Borowy, Dearing, DeFrances, Wilson, Murphy, Lyter

• Thursday September 18, RECC Popsicles on the Playground: 

  This will be a fun opportunity for RECC students and parents to enjoy a cool treat, connect with classmates, and get to know one another. We can’t wait to see you there!

• Tuesday September 23, Schools and Offices closed

• Monday September 29, Walker's Tap & Table Spirit Night:  Join us at Walkers Tap & Table for our next Spirit Night! It’s the perfect way to reward yourself for surviving the first month of school—good food, good company, and a great way to support Bushy Park. Show this flyer and a portion of the night’s proceeds will go right back to our PTA programs. Bring the family, bring your appetite, and let’s celebrate making it through September together!

• Tuesday September 30, General PTA Meeting 6:30:

  Join us for a hybrid meeting, all are welcome!  Remember your vote matters.  Not a member yet?  You can sign up at the door at 6:15.  All attendees will be entered into the raffle for fun door prizes. Missed last meeting?  Check our website for preliminary minutes.

Room Parents Needed!

We’re looking for Room Parents to help support our teachers and classrooms this year. Room Parents coordinate classroom celebrations, share important PTA updates, and help rally volunteers when needed. It’s a fun way to stay connected with your child’s class and make a big difference with just a little time. Interested? Sign up today and help us make this year extra special!  

Get Involved!   -  Have ideas for speaker topics at future PTA meetings? Please fill out the idea form—we’d love your input.   -  Library volunteers  help students check out and reshelve books so our readers always have something new to discover, as well as supervising the Maker Space.   -  School volunteers lend a hand to our amazing staff and teachers with projects like making copies, assembling games, and other little tasks that make a big difference.

Girls on the Run Sign-Ups Are Open!

It’s time to lace up those sneakers, registration for Girls on the Run is now open! This fun program for girls in grades 3-5 inspires confidence, builds friendships, and gets kids moving. Don’t miss out, spots fill quickly, so sign up today!
