Save the Date for the
Bushy Park Elementary School

2012 SCIENCE FAIR!

Thursday, March 1, 2012

The 10th annual Bushy Park Science Fair will be held on
Thursday, March 1, 2012! The Science Fair is a judged event open
to students in all grades, Pre-K through 5th. The Science Fair is held
during the school day when students meet with our friendly, parent
volunteer judges to discuss their project. The Science Fair also includes
an evening event at 6pm with presentation of awards to students and a
fun science show by Mad Science, Inc.

Registration: To participate in the Science Fair, register online here:
or register by e-mailing
Theresa Geiman at tmgeiman@yahoo.com with your student’s Name,
Grade/Teacher, email address, telephone number, and project (if
known).

To help students get started, there will be a Science Fair Kick-
Off and Help Session held on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 pm
in the school cafeteria. Participants will get hands-on instruction on
how to execute a science experiment. Murray Educational Services
will be leading students through a sample science experiment to help
the children develop ideas for their own experiments. There is no
registration for the Kick-Off Event.

Project Preparation: Science Fair projects should be
experiments that ask a question/test a hypothesis. For more information
on preparing a Science Fair project including the parts/steps needed,
websites with project ideas, what the display board presented to the
judges should look like, and the judging form, see the attachments below.

Request for Science Fair Judges: Are you interested in being a
Science Fair judge? If you are a Bushy Park parent or relative who is
engaged in any branch of science, engineering, or research, we need you
to be a judge! Judging occurs during school hours on fair day which
is Thursday, March 1, 2012. Judges interview students about their
projects, complete a judging form and meet with other judges to identify
exemplary projects. Parents who have served as judges in the past have
found it to be a rewarding and fun experience. To become a judge,
please contact Heidi Gaasch at heidingrid@hotmail.com or Theresa
Geiman at tmgeiman@yahoo.com. Thanks for supporting our young
scientists!
