The PTA is excited to be able to present the following after school activities for the 2008-2009 school year.

Super Squads - a cheerleading program that includes dance and tumbling instruction. Open to all students, grades 2-5.
Held Mondays, 4:00-5:30pm in the gym.

Karate - children will learn basic motions, forms, jujitsu, one step and sparring. Open to all students K-5. Held on Friday from 4:00-4:45pm
and 4:45-5:30pm in the gym.

*** Special Notice: The 4:00pm after school Karate class is now full. If you would like to enroll your child in the program they will be placed in the 4:45-5:30pm class, which will require that you transport them back to school. There is a 10 student minimum class size in order to run this program. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified by email of the class cancellation and your enrollment fee will be returned to you. Celestial Searchers - an astronomy club for parents and children. Each month a new constellation is featured. Activities include stories, projects and stargazing. Guest speakers are periodically hosted. Open to all students K-5. Generally held on the 4th Monday of the month from
7:00-8:00pm in Art room #230.

Chess Club - Beginners will be introduced to the rules of the game, the moves of the pieces, open principles, basic checkmates, and
tactics like forks, pins, double attacks, and discovered checks. Intermediate players will learn strategy on how to shape a plan in the
middle game, combinations, and some endgame principles. Open to all students K-5. Held before school from 8:30-9:15am.
Beginners held on Wednesdays in the media center.
Intermediates held on Fridays in Art room #230.


Magic - Students will learn really cool magic tricks to do for friends and family. Students will read for understanding and practice following instructions. Each child will be supplied with a magic wand, materials, and a carrying case. Open to all students, grades 3-5. Held on Thursdays, from 4:00-5:00pm in Activity Room #137.

Spanish - Children learn Spanish with songs, culture, games, conversation, puppets and lots of fun. This fall's theme is "All Around Clothing."
Open to all students K-5.
Grade K-5 held on Mondays, 4:00-5:00pm in Activity room #137.


Technical Writing with Flare - Children learn to write using modern technology. Writing. editing and technology skills are presented in a fun manner. Open to Grade 4-5 on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00 in the computer lab #130.

KidzArt - - Students learn to draw naturally and experience the joy of creative expression with fun art exercises and techniques. Open to all students grades K-5.
Grade K-2 on Fridays, 4:00-5:10pm in the Art room #230.
Grades 3-5 on Fridays, 4:00-5:10pm in Room #213.


Golf - A 5 level after school golf program. Students learn golfing skills in a fun, safe environment with professional instruction. All equipment is provided. Open to all students Grades K-5 on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00pm in the gym and out on the blacktop. Beginning October 21, 2008.

Drama -Children will learn and perform in the show as both a lead and a chorus member. Students rehearse, work on drama skills, and perform their own version of a real Broadway show. Open to all students, grades 2-5. Held on Tuesdays from 4:00-6:00pm in the Music room and MiniAuditorium beginning January 6, 2009. Production will be Annie Jr. with show dates 3/5/09 and 3/6/09.

Dance - Ballet: classes teach introductory movements and positions, including ballet and modern fundamentals, while
developing coordination, balance, rhythm and self-esteem.

Jazz/Hip-Hop: classes introduce elementary jazz technique and body movements, including isolations of the body and floor work.

Tap: offers an introduction to rhythm and music creation through basic tap techniques.

Open to all students Pre-K - 5. Days and times TBD. Watch the Bushy Bear Tales for registration forms this fall or winter.

Science Encounters - offers children a creative and supportive environment for exploring science. Children with a keen interest in science
can now develop those interests while supplementing the classroom curriculum. Classes are designed to help improve the science skills
of students. Open to all students K-5.
Days and times TBD. Watch the Bushy Bear Tales for registration forms this fall or winter.
